Navy disinfects Ministry of Media premises

Sri Lanka Navy today (23rd March 2020) launched a disinfection programme at Ministry of Mass Media and Department of Government Information premises to prevent the COVID-19 spread.

The Government Information Department is coordinating with private media institutions and other government agencies throughout the 24 hours to provide responsible information to the public. The Director General of Government Information Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa has made a request to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal de Silva to assists sterilization of the Ministry of Mass Media and Government Information Department premises which are frequently visited by journalists and government officials.

Accordingly, the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit carried out the disinfection programme at aforesaid locations in accordance with sanitization and disinfection guidelines. Further, the Navy is prepared to carry out similar programmes in time to come, to continue its fight against the novel coronavirus.
