TVS partners with two of the biggest cricketing encounters in Sri Lanka, in a bid to drive inter-school sportsmanship and to encourage student participation in a game which is loved the world over. Stepping in as sponsor for the Battle of the Brothers, the much-awaited cricketing encounter between Thurstan College and Isipathana College and the Battle of the Gold, between the Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, TVS awards each ‘Man-of-the-Tournament’ a notable, world-class, premium bike, as a token of recognition of superior sportsmanship.
The automobile retail giant is renowned for partnering with sporting encounters on a national level, having been the title sponsor of the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka in 2019.
The year 2020 marks the 57th Battle of Brothers and the 40th (50 Over) One-Day encounter 2020.
Dating back even further, to 1933, is the Battle of the Gold cricketing encounter, which is marked as one of the oldest face-offs in Big Match history. The Battle of the Gold is widely renowned for producing prominent cricketers to the national stream. The year 2020 saw the 70th Battle of Golds and also marks the 35th (50 Over) One-Day encounter 2020.
TVS Lanka CEO, Ravi Liyanage said, “Having been the 2019 title sponsor for the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka, TVS has cemented its footprint as a globally recognised sponsorship and awarding body of distinguished sporting events and is widely recognised at international level for its affiliation with the long-honoured game of cricket.
