Education Ministry issues guidelines to prevent Covid-19 spread

The Education Ministry has by circular dated March 13 informed all officials in the education field including Ministry officials that teachers, students and other staff members should be informed of the measures needed to be taken to avoid contracting coronavirus.

This circular has been sent to all district educational secretaries, zonal education directors, principals and other education heads and pirivena principals regarding the preventive health measures needed to be taken to avoid infection.

They have been instructed that all institutions must provide facilities to wash hands prior to entering; prevent group meetings and stop all training programmes; provide covered bins to dispose of all used tissues, educate those who have respiratory issues to wear masks, and notify them to ensure that all family members and staff returning to the country from overseas are subjected to quarantine procedures.
