Limited treatment to dental patients

The Government Dental Surgeons' Association has decided to limit treatment provided to dental patients at dental surgeries/clinics in order to prevent COVID-19 which spreads through droplets (saliva), the Government Dental Surgeon's Association Secretary Dr. Vipula Wickramasinghe said in a statement.

According to Dr. Wickramasinghe, all dental clinics will only carry out emergency surgeries and all the other treatment will not be provided to dental patients. The step has been taken to prevent COVID-19 spreading through surgeries/clinics.

Dr. Wickramasinghe pointed out that under the emergency dental treatment, dental patients with unbearable pain, swelling, infected abscess, accident victims, etc will only be treated. The public are requested to visit dental surgeries/clinics etc for treatment and not for any other dental issues.

"Dental issues such as all types of cleaning, filling, replacing, children's fluoride treatment etc will not be performed by dental surgeons," he added.
