Forty two in isolation in Mullaitivu

Precautionary measures have been taken from yesterday (18) to keep 42 persons showing symptoms of the COVID -19 Coronavirus in the Mullaitivu District in isolation and carefully monitor their situation.

Mullaitivu District Secretariat K. Vimalnathan said that these persons are in self-isolation, even though there have been no cases confirmed. However, as a precautionary measure, three suspected cases have been sent to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

He further added that these persons have been kept under observation since most of them have come from overseas and kept in isolation since March 1. Anyone who shows symptoms of the disease can visit the Mullaitivu District General Hospital for an initial examination. We have requested for the necessary resources, equipment and people to deal with the virus.

Health officials are taking measures to carry out public awareness through leaflets and announcements.
