Arrivals halted: Transit passengers, cargo allowed

The government has taken a decision to stop all passengers arriving in the country from midnight tomorrow (18), Head of the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID-19, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said.

He said this during a media briefing held at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 in Rajagiriya yesterday (17). However, he said that there was no restriction on transit passengers and cargo transport. The Army Commander also noted that there was no restriction on passenger departures either.The ‘National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak’ (NOCPCO), established at No 1090, Sino Lanka Towers building on Sri Jayawardenapura Mawatha, Rajagiriya on the guidelines of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to centralize, expedite and implement all necessary preventive measures against the transmission of COVID-19.
