To create awareness among the public about the severity of combating a health hazard such as Coronavirus disease a special meeting was organized by the Batticaloa Medical Association and Batticaloa Municipal Council. They have embarked in forming the task force to tackle the prevailing Coronavirus problem and it was held at the Batticaloa Municipal Council on Monday. Initially, they decided to propagate their measures to the media and through places of religious worship in Batticaloa. The measures to confront the problems and the action to be taken were outlined. The task force included Batticaloa Government Agent, Batticaloa Mayor, representatives from tri-forces and Police, members from Lions, Rotary Clubs and the Batticaloa Traders’ Association. Visitors to the Municipality area were provided with facilities to sanitize their hands before entering the office. This example will be followed at other public institutions too.
Batticaloa Mayor Thiagaraja Saravanapavan, Deputy Mayor K.Sathiyaseelan, President-Batticaloa Medical Association, Senior Lecturer-Faculty of Health Care Science Dr.K.T.Sundaresan, Secretary Medical Officer K.Mayuration, Pediatrician-Batticaloa Teaching Hospital S.Vishnukumar and MOH Batticaloa Dr. K. Kirisuthan were present at this occasion.
