Person held for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber

Navy apprehended a person for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber, during a patrol conducted in the sea area of Vinayasodi in Jaffna.

Sri Lanka Navy is constantly patrolling Sri Lanka's maritime region to combat illegal activities.

Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command had apprehended this person for illegally catching sea cucumber, during a patrol conducted in the sea area of Vinayasodi, Jaffna.

Along with the suspect 175 illegally caught sea cucumbers, 01 dinghy and several other fishing gear were also taken into naval custody.

The accused was identified as a 25-year-old resident of Pallikuda, Jaffna.

The suspects together with illegally caught sea cucumber and other fishing gear were handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries Inspector's Office for further investigation.
