Visit National Eye Hospital only in an emergency - Director

Health officials request the public to visit the National Eye Hospital only in the event of an emergency due to the threat of the spread of Coronavirus.

Director of the hospital Dr. W.L.L.U.C. Kumarathilaka issuing a statement requested the general public to only visit the National Eye Hospital for accident-related treatment, inpatient clinical treatment and for medical emergencies during this period.

The Director of the National Eye Hospital points out that around 3,000 persons visit the hospital daily for treatment and services, and that such a large gathering at one place increases the risk of the spread of the virus.

As the government is making efforts to limit large gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus in the country, the public are requested to visit the National Eye Hospital only in the case of an emergency and for essential services.

The public are also urged to visit the Eye clinics of the nearest government hospital for treatment.
