UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in a statement yesterday commended the early vacation for schools taken by the government. He, however, said it should immediately announce the steps it would take towards facing the Coronavirus threat.
The statement said that the World Health Organization had announced that the Corona ‘Covid 19’ virus had become a global pandemic. The United States, Europe and several Asian countries have already announced the strategies that they adopted to face this situation. It added that even developed countries had admitted that they had not sufficient health facilities to face this virus threat. Given this situation, the government should formulate a systematic programme to face the Coronavirus threat in consultation with state and private sector health authorities, the statement further said.
