Six students further remanded

The Six students from the Sri Jayawardenapura University who were arrested in connection with the ragging incident that seriously injured a first year student were remanded till March 23. They were produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate yesterday.

Four students from the University were detained yesterday for questioning over the incident after the Police had summoned a group of students who have been present during the alleged ragging.

Subsequently six students from the Sri Jayawardenapura University were arrested including the student who had allegedly released the tyre.

Pasindu Hirushan (20) is said to be suffering from brain injuries and is now receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Hospital.

The incident occurred on March 5 during an end of the ragging season party.

Mirihana Police are investigating.
