Designated area at BIA for medical check-ups

All passengers returning to the country from South Korea, Italy, Iran and other countries affected by the COVID-19 outbreak will be directed to a designated area at the BIA, Katunayake for a medical check-up and be then sent to Batticaloa private campus premises or the Polonnaruwa Kandakadu centre for a 14 day quarantine process, President of the Airport and Aviation Service Private Limited Retired Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said.

He pointed out that Bandaranaike International airport is the main security gateway that will secure the health and safety of the general public against the Covid-19. Major General Chandrasiri made these observations at a press brief held at the airport premises. He also said that a staff of 200 persons is deployed for cleaning purposes of the airport. Chandrasiri also observed that any passenger suffering from high fever will be automatically detected and be sent to hospital in a special ambulance service.
