The launch of the book ‘A Historical Review of Healing and Medicine in Sri Lanka’ along with the ‘The Healing Legacy’ four-day photographic exhibition will take place at the Lionel Wendt Art Center in Colombo on March 27.
This book is an overview on the legends, folk medicine, medicine of indigenous people (Veddas), spiritual healing, hela wedakama, Ayurveda, wellbeing, food and life style and western medicine of Sri Lanka.
A team of three authors, namely Dr. Dinil Abeygunawardane, Dr. Nalin Perera and Deshan Karunaratna has contributed to the compilation of the book, which has high-quality imagery and paintings.
The exhibition will carry several selected photographs from this book and will be open to the public from 1.00 p.m. on March 27 to 6. 00 p.m. on March 30. Institute of Multimedia Education (IME) organizes this event in parallel with the 150th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo.
IME invites school children, university students, scholars and those who are interested in the field of traditional and Western medicine and culture to visit the exhibition.
