CTU urges Govt. for an inquiry into conduct of police

Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) urged the Government to conduct an inquiry into the conduct of police on the raid of a facebook party recently at Araliya Uyana area, Pannipitiya.

CTU Chief Secretary Joseph Stalin said that all the youth, who participated in the party had been taken into custody allegedly by police on charges of taking drugs.

Holding a party in public is not an offence, but the police have arrested all the participants without any confirmed evidence relating to drug usage at the party causing the arrestees and their family members much embarrassment in facing the public.

The CTU requests the Government to issue a guideline for police to follow when conducting such a raid.
