The British School in Colombo (BSC) powered their way into the final of the Inter-International Schools Under-17 Cricket Tournament with a comprehensive 47-run victory over Lyceum, Panadura in the semi-final fixture worked off at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita.

In fact, this was the third successive year that the BSC had made it to the final of the tournament. BSC electing to bat first, raced to a commanding 193 for eight in 30 overs with all-rounder Zaid Jahid stroking a fluent 81 with the aid of 11 boundaries and two sixes.

In reply, Lyceum was put under pressure from the start by paceman Vishnu Praveen who claimed three early wickets with a hostile spell of bowling. Thereafter, Lyceum fought back and kept their hopes alive to a certain extent through a valuable partnership between Navin Rodrigo (46) and Sajad Ahmed (45). However, the BSC spinners put the issue beyond doubt through some accurate bowling as Thishan Kahadawalaarachchi (2/22), Aryan Amalean (2/34) and Pradyun Saikia (2/29) added the finishing touches in style.

BSC: 193/8 in 30 overs (Kavya Shukla 20, Zaid Jahid 81, Pradyun Saikia 29, Senaka Dharmakeerthi 40, Navin Rodrigo 4/25, Yeshith Kalupahana 2/27)

Lyceum: 146 in 26.2 overs (Navin Rodrigo 46, Sajad Ahmed 45, Vishnu Praveen 3/18, Thishan Kahadawalaarachchi 2/22, Aryan Amalean 2/34, Pradyun Saikia 2/29).
