This was done according to a concept of Major General Rasika Fernando, Commander, Security Forces – East.

The mammoth campaign while cleaning the most polluted beach patches in these districts educated the youth on the importance of environmental protection and conservation.

Army and Urban Council tractors supported the transport of collected garbage and pollutants for disposal while the project was underway. Respective General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers actively contributed to the project covering their areas of responsibility.
