Foreigner drowns in hotel pool

A foreigner died while bathing in a hotel swimming pool in South Samudra Mawatha, Payagala.

The deceased, C.Y.L. Gomez (35) was a Czechoslovakian national who had come to Sri Lanka to attend a wedding.

He had arrived in Sri Lanka on February 27 with seven other friends and was staying at the hotel.

Investigations revealed that he was alone in the swimming pool at the time of the incident, police said.

A hotel worker who saw the foreigner in the pool immediately informed the management and the foreigner was rushed to the Nagoda hospital, but he was pronounced dead on admission.

The Payagala Police are conducting further investigations.
