Kachchativu St. Anthony’s Church feast a great success

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Piyal de Silva said the annual feast of St. Anthony's Church in Kachchativu, Jaffna that the Navy organises annually was showing a great improvement this year. The Navy Commander was addressing the media at the annual feast on March 7.

He said the free environment in the country has given the feast more grace. The Navy has provided all necessary facilities to make the festival a success, he said while thanking all those who supported to make the event a grand success.

The Navy along with the Northern Province District Secretariat provided transport facilities for devotees.

They also provided the infrastructure facilities including electricity, sanitation and drinking water for the event and deployed a life-saving team and a medical team as well for the safety of pilgrims.

A large number of devotees participated in the festival. The Navy Commander thanked President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Defense Secretary Major General Kamal Gunaratne for their support. Over 6,073 Sri Lankans and 2,510 Indians had participated in the event.

Former parliamentarian Angan Ramanathan, Former Defence Staff Chief Admiral Ravindra Wijegunawardena and Jaffna Chief of Defence Major Genaral Ruwan Wanigasekara participated.
