The Navy ceremoniously welcomed the Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Parramatta at the Colombo Port on Saturday in compliance with naval traditions.

The Colombo Harbour became the latest port of call for HMAS Parramatta, which arrived here to continue the close maritime security cooperation between Australia and Sri Lanka. An Australian delegation including Commanding Officer of HMAS Parramatta Commander Anita Mary Nemarich called on Western Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe and held a cordial discussion on matters of bilateral importance. Mementoes were exchanged to mark the importance of the occasion.

The ship will remain in Sri Lanka till Wednesday (11). During its stay in the island, the crew will take part in a range of programmes, sporting events and tours organised by the Sri Lanka Navy.
