Returnees from virus affected countries to be quarantined for 14 days

The students, teachers and staff returning to Sri Lanka from countries where the COVID-19 virus is prevalent will be quarantined for a period of 14 days, the Education Ministry said.

Issuing a press statement yesterday, the Education Ministry said it has given instructions to the Heads of all schools and educational institutions that the students, teachers and academic and non academic staff returning to Sri Lanka from China, Korea, Italy and other countries where patients of the COVID-19 virus have been reported must undergo a quarantine period of 14 days.

The new coronavirus (COVID - 19) is now reported from over 70 countries in the world. The Education Ministry said that the instructions were given based on a request made by the Health Ministry.
