Action against ex-Good Governance ministers

13 fail to hand over their official residences:

It was revealed yesterday that 13 former Cabinet Ministers of the Good Governance Government who have not yet vacated their official residences are to be sued soon.

The Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government Ministry has taken measures to sue these former ministers who deliberately did not hand over their official residences despite Government’s written notices to them.

These former ministers lost their ministerial positions three months ago after the Presidential Election was held last November.

Since then, the former Cabinet Ministers had been informed three times in writing to hand over their official residences on or before February 20 this year as the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers of the incumbent Government are to be given these official residences.

Consequently, due to the failure and negligence of 13 former ministers in handing back their official residences, the Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government Ministry has been compelled to take legal action against these errant former ministers, Kurunegala District senior Divisional Secretary W.E. Jayathilake said while speaking at a meeting of Grama Niladharis in the Kurunegala District yesterday in Kurunegala.
