EPDP to contest under ‘Fiddle’ symbol

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) is conducting discussions on contesting the upcoming general elections under the ‘Fiddle’ symbol, its leader, Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda said.

He was speaking to the media at the Vavuniya Inn yesterday.

The EPDP leader said that several provincial political parties, those have the capability of directly involving in the public’s issues, will support his party at this election.

He said the Tamil people in the North suffered a lot in the past since politicians with the interest of solving their issues have not been elected.

Public representatives of the North got the vote of the Tamil people by misleading them and worked for their own benefit other than finding solutions to people’s issues.

If we functioned in accordance with the Indo–Sri Lanka Peace Accord, the Tamil people of Sri Lanka would not have suffered in this way, he added.
