UNP in complete disarray – USP

United Socialist Party (USP) Leader Sirithunga Jayasuriya yesterday (5) said the United National Party (UNP) is in complete disarray and it does not think about the country and is still trying to solve their external problems.

“Only a week is there for the nominations, and the party is clueless about what is happening. Leave alone the candidates; they are not still sure under which party they are going to contest or the symbol. These are very crucial matters. It is such a sad situation”.

He further said that the UNP is letting down the people who have voted for them, and in this situation, Ranil Wickremesinghe has gone to Dubai. He is the leader of the party. Without him, they cannot do anything. He is not in the country and I do not know for how many days,” he said.

“There are about 600,000 people who will vote against the present leadership. Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB), the new party led by Sajith Premadasa is not a new thing. He contested the Presidential Election in the same format. I do not think anything new will happen just because some parties are rendering their support to Sajith. What matters is not how many will join, but their purpose. Now I see no purpose in the party,” he said.
