‘Investigation launched into last year’s NLB losses’

National Lotteries Board (NLB) Chairman Lalith Perera told the Daily News yesterday that a special investigation is being conducted into the losses faced by the National Lotteries Board.

He said the for-profit corporation was running at a loss last year, and that legal action is to be taken against the parties responsible for it.

Perera said that the annual income of the National Lotteries Board is Rs.21 billion, and that it is expected to raise that number to Rs.23 billion by the year’s end.

There are about 20,000 lottery dealers across the country, and around 20,000 families are dependent on the National Lotteries Board, he added.
