‘3,650 houses for war heroes and their families’

The government is to build about 3,650 houses for disabled war heroes and their families under a project titled ‘Viru Sumithuru’, Kurunegala Senior Divisional Secretary W.E. Jayathilake said.

He was speaking at a meeting of war heroes’ family members held at the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre in Kurunegala, on Wednesday.

The project is to be implemented by the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) and Rana Viru Seva Authority, under the guidance of Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne, he added.

The funds required for the project are to be provided by the Rana Viru Seva Authority; while the Tri-Forces, police, and Civil Security Force are to take on the construction work. The project is expected to be completed by 2022, Jayathilake said.
