The Spectrum Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) is the pioneering life sciences institute in Sri Lanka providing young aspiring students an opportunity to study globally recognized degree programmes in Sri Lanka.

Stepping into its 19th year of academic excellence, SIST marks yet another milestone by collaborating with Lincoln University College (LUC), Malaysia. In accordance to this, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SIST and LUC took place recently, with the participation of Chairman of SIST, Jayanthan Kulasingham and Vice Chancellor of LUC, Dr. Amiya Bhaumik.

The launch of LUC Malaysia was held at the SIST Campus located at Kirimandala Mawatha, Colombo 05 under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor of LUC, Dr. Amiya Bhaumik and the Chairman of SIST Jayanthan Kulasingham. A highly reputed panel of lecturers, students of SIST and members of the media were also present.

Speaking at the launch Chairman of SIST Jayanthan Kulasingham said, “We are very happy to be collaborating with a prestigious university like LUC to bring a range of degree programmes to Sri Lankan students. The programmes span across various branches of study as we hope to attract students with different interests and capabilities”. The chairman further added that SIST is very excited to offer 10 globally recognized career oriented degree courses at affordable prices.

Under the MoU SIST will now provide the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science at the Faculty of Life Sciences, and the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Aeronautics), Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics and the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Hons) at the Faculty of Engineering. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Business Management and Finance will provide the Bachelor of Economic and Finance (Hons), Bachelor of Business Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Business in Banking and Finance (Hons), and the Faculty of Information Technology will have the Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Network Technology and Cyber Security) programme.

SIST will commence with these undergraduate degree programs with Lincoln University College that are recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. All four years of the degree could be completed in Sri Lanka which contributes to the lower cost factor. SIST in collaboration with LUC, believes in providing value added education to students at an affordable cost under one million Sri Lankan rupees with up to 50% scholarships as per eligibility.

SIST encourages young students to engage in co-curricular activities through the weekly journal club sessions where students present a journal article of their choice at an open forum followed by discussion with the participation of the faculty as well as the entire student body.

SIST further directs students to participate at various national and international conferences and training programmes.
