Large haul of heroin and ICE brought to Dikovita harbour

The haul of heroin and crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice’, worth approximately Rs. 6,000 million along with the suspects and fishing vessels in connection to it, seized after a successful naval operation in high seas about 600 nautical miles away from Sri Lankan shores, was brought to the Dikovita fisheries harbour this morning together with 16 suspects who were arrested during this operation.

The operation to detect and seize these vessels carrying this load of drugs to the country was based on intelligence information received from the Police Narcotic Bureau. Accordingly, the Navy deployed two of their Offshore Patrol Vessels ‘Samudura’ and ‘Sayurala’ on this mission which took around 25 days.
