Nineteen in hospitals under watch for Covid-19

Nineteen (19) individuals are currently under observation for the COVID-19 virus, Epidemiology Unit statistics issued yesterday (4) said. No Sri Lankan living here has been found positive for the virus so far.

There are eleven (11) individuals at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), three (3) individuals at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, three (3) at Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and another one (1) at Negambo DGH and one (1) individual warded at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital.

According to the Health Ministry sources, in the current Sri Lankan context, there is no scientific justification to wear face masks routinely by the public including children. It is good if sick (flu, seasonal influenza etc.) people and the people with significantly low immunity due to special health conditions and specific diseases wear face masks while visiting public places.
