Kuwait to screen passengers from Sri Lanka

Sri Lankans will not be allowed to enter Kuwait unless they have a valid medical certificate stating that they are free from COVID19, the Kuwait government announced on Tuesday.

Kuwait has named 11 countries including Sri Lanka urging them to follow the new quarantine regulations implemented on Tuesday in the wake of the increasing incidence of the virus in many parts of the world.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued the relevant circular No 25 dated 04/02/2020, urging all expatriate passengers coming from Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Syria, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Georgia, and Lebanon to undergo medical examination (PCR - Certificate) that confirms they are free from the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) before entering the country.

The Directorate stressed that the examination certificate must be issued by health centers approved by the Embassy of State of Kuwait, adding that if there is no Kuwaiti embassy in these countries, they must be certified by the health authorities operating in the said countries.
