Frozen on time

The talent to capture amazing images was instilled in Sampath Peries from a young age. Hailing from the outskirts of Negombo the young lad has always been curious about capturing images of his surroundings.

He went as far as to pursue a photography cause at the Art Gallery but was not selected for the course because he was too young. This did not discourage him as he was determined to start young. He got the opportunity to work at Dollars Studio in Negombo while continuing with his education at Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa.His dedication to the art was noted and his position was increased at several stages and finally became its owner too.

He followed a three-year diploma at Sri Lanka National Photography Art Society and was later put in charge as its exhibition director. He also got the opportunity to represent its professional team. He is currently the director of the Institute of Sri Lanka Photographers.

He has won many accolades during his stint as a photographer and hopes to share his talent with the public. Around 50 of his photographs will be on exhibit at a photography exhibition held at Lionel Wendt Theatre on March 7 and 8 from 9 am to 8 pm.
