Healing notes

The well-known organization of musicians and other artistes, Moratuwa Arts Forum (MAF), conducted a youth programme up in the cooling hills for 225 senior students of Highlands College, Hatton.

MAF member musician Priya Peiris organised the event at the request of Highlands College Principal Sridhar and the 98 A-Level batch. The project was sponsored by Suresh Chetty.

The students of the area face several hardships in education. They gained wisdom and knowledge from the lectures delivered by MAF members Hiran Fernando and Erinton Perera on subject areas of leadership development and effective communication. MAF Vice President Lakdas Fernando lectured and demonstrated on healthy drug-free life. The MAF distributed files and lecture course material notes to all students freely.

Three students from Sri Pada College were granted financial aid scholarships during the event.

MAF artists that participated were Lincoln De Silva (Leader, Super Pink & purple), Jagath Peiris (former Golden Chimes), MAF Treasurer Laksiri Fernando (former Pedlars), Priya Peiris and Erinton Perera (La Bambas), Hiran Fernando (formerly Pink & purple), singers Lilanthi Jayaratne, Rita Bertus, Swinitha Perera and professional photographer Lakdas Fernando.
