Galewela Public Ground needs facelift

The Galewela Public Ground in the Galewela Divisional Secretariat Area, where many sports festivals and other public ceremonies were held in the past, is now in deplorable state, athletic societies said

The ground was modernised spending over Rs.10 million by the previous regime.

But the ground is uneven. During rainy days, several places of the ground become muddy pools.

Therefore, sportspersons do not come here for practice, they said.

The pavilion that was built about three decades ago is on the verge of collapse.

The residents of the area complain that some unruly groups use the pavilion in the night. The athletic societies and the residents, therefore, urge the authorities to re-modernise the ground.
