Notice issued on Judge Pilapitiya

Nugegoda Magistrate Mohammed Mihar yesterday issued summons on interdicted Embilipitiya High Court judge Gihan Pilapitiya to appear in courts on April 2.

Judge Pilapitiya was interdicted for allegedly conducting a telephone conversation with former State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake.

The Magistrate issued the summons after considering the submissions made by the Attorney General’s department. He also ordered that notices should be served  on the interdicted judge through the ASP of the Colombo Crimes Division. The Magistrate cited that notice issued on the interdicted judge naming him the second suspect of the case. Additional Solicitor General Haripriya Gunasekera and Senior State Counsel Chaturi wijesuriya made submissions on behalf of the prosecution. Presidents Counsel K.V.Thavarasa appeared for the interdicted judge.
