Kilinochchi troops detect 323 kg of Cannabis

Two alert Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops, together with Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) members of the 663 Brigade of the 66 Division under the Security Force HQ-Kilinochchi arrested a suspect with 323 kgs of Kerala Ganja (Cannabis) while being transported in a lorry at Pallawarayankaddu in the general area of Weravil, Jayapuram.

On military intelligence received from MIC troops, the Bravo Company troops of the 2 SLNG troops, detected the lorry with 323 kgs of cannabis concealed in separate packs.

Troops arrested the vehicle driver and handed him over together with cannabis to the Special Task Force post at Iranamadu. The suspect and the vehicle were handed over to the Jayapuram Police station for further investigations.

Major General M.D Wijesundara, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, together with Colonel K.L.S.S Liyanagama, 663 Brigade Commander supervised the entire operation on the supervision of Major General Jayantha Gunaratne, Commander, Security Forces, Kilinochchi.
