‘Plans afoot to update public transport system’

Passenger Transport Management and Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said a range of plans have been formulated to develop the public transport in the country.

He was addressing a political meeting in Tangalle recently.

“The transport service was deplorable before and it will be developed to provide maximum convenience to the public,” the Minister said.

“Aa a result of the thirty year long war, the people came to understand that war causes irreparable damages and the government will not betray the security forces that sacrificed their lives and limbs for the freedom of the country,” he said.
