Army Commander joins Ududumbara meditation centre opening

The Ududumbara Samatha Vidarashana Meditation Centre off Ududumbara was vested in the Maha Sangha on February 29 in a religious ceremony.

Asgiriya Chapter Maha Nayake Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanaratanabhidhana Nayake Thera, Asgiriya Chapter Deputy Registrar and Asgiriya Pirivena Parivenadipathi Most Ven. Narampanawe Ananda Thera, Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa Nilanga Dela Bandara, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Province Roshan Fernando and many others participated.

The land for the new temple with meditation cottages, monasteries and all other facilities was donated by the former senior (retired) DIG Nimal Mediwaka and his family.Chief Prelates, members of the Maha Sangha and the distinguished guests were escorted in a procession from the Kuluntenna Junction.

En route they joined the cornerstone-laying event for the new shrine at Kaluntenna Wimaladharma Maha Vidyalaya and the handover of a new house for a helpless family of the area.Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Maha Nayake Thera cut a ribbon and opened the main meditation complex after Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva unveiled the plaque in the presence of the monks and other visitors.
