‘TNA not working for Tamil people’

Former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran said the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is not working to fulfill the aspirations of the Tamil people but to bring the previous government back to power.

Wigneswaran made this comments at a press conference held at the Jaffna Press Club yesterday.

He said that the TNA had been given many privileges by the previous government.

The TNA had defended the former government and not solved the problems of the Tamil people.

He said the UN Human Rights Council met during the previous regime but the TNA was not able to fulfill the recommendations of the Council.

Wigneswaran said that the TNA is silent on what the present government is doing as the general election is coming up. He explained that the TNA had no political role to play for the Tamil people, except for creating drama. The TNA would not be able to obtain much support from the people.
