The local government body of the Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha has erected a warning sign board near the bathing area of the Ulhitiyaava Oya, Beligalla about the danger of crocodiles who used to attack people at this place, following a report in the Daily News on February 15, 2020, with the heading ‘Kimbul Kotuva, a long-felt need of Beligalla villagers’.

Local people appreciate the action taken by the local council, but said the new board with the word ‘warning’ is not satisfactory for people who like to spend more time in water. They urge the local council to set up a kimbul kotuva (crocodile excluding enclosure), repeating that it has been a long-felt need.
