Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya has been elected as the 24th Secretary of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) for the year 2020-2021 after securing a clear majority over his rival candidate Dinoo Dharmaratne.
According to official results, Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya had polled 3,575 votes while his rival candidate Attorney-at-Law Dinoo Dharmaratne has polled 747 votes.
Rajeev Amarasuriya has been declared the winner with a majority of 2,828 votes.
Meanwhile, President's Counsel Kalinga Indatissa was re-elected as the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) for the year 2020 and 2021 without contest.
The election for BASL Secretary was commenced this morning at 84 election centres island wide. Attorneys registered under BASL were eligible to cast their votes. Solicitor General Sanjay Rajaratnam was functioned as the returning officer for the election.
