Miffed with ‘Mr India’ remake

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is someone you can trust to voice her opinions. She is fearless and has always stood by what she believes in. Only recently, director Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted about remaking ‘Mr India’. The trilogy will be directed by him and this excited a lot of fans of the iconic film.

However, Sonam has now come out in the open to express how hurt she is with the makers of the film as they have not contacted either Anil Kapoor or Shekhar Kapur before going public with the news of a remake. While Shekhar Kapur directed the classic film, Anil Kapoor starred in it alongside late Sridevi.

Expressing herself and her dissent, Sonam took to social media to write, “A lot of people have been asking me for the ‘Mr India’ remake. Honestly, my father didn’t even know that the film was being remade, we found about it through social media when Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted. It’s quite disrespectful and underhanded, if it is true, since no one bothered to ask my father or Shekhar uncle - two people who made a major role in making the film what it was and what it is.”

She added, “It’s sad because it was a film made with heart and hard work and it is very sentimental to my father. Beyond commerce and announcements, it is a part of his legacy. I should hope that respect for someone’s work and contribution is still as important to us as a big weekend at the box office.”
