COVID-19 suspect cases down to 3

Three people are currently under observation for COVID-19, according to the latest statistics issued by the Epidemiology Unit yesterday. They are at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, Negombo DGS and Badulla PGH. There are no COVID-19 suspected patients at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). The Health Ministry has decided to quarantine all passengers arriving from Korea for 14 days from the date of arrival. Under the current circumstances, there is no scientific justification for the public to wear facemasks.

“Only airline passengers from South Korea are to be covered under this new decision and they will be allowed to go to their destinations in Sri Lanka and will be requested to confine themselves to those places for 14 days, under observation of the PHI, MOH or the relevant area.

People arriving from China are also currently undergoing this procedure,” sources said.

“The decision to quarantine passengers from South Korea had been communicated to the officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake for necessary action,” the sources added.
