‘350 wild elephant deaths reported in SL last year’

Around 350 wild elephants had been reported in Sri Lanka, last year. Furthermore, around 106 human deaths had also been reported in the country owing to wild elephant attacks, Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary W.E. Jayathilake told the Daily News.

He added that the Wildlife Conservation Department has confirmed these numbers.

Twenty-one elephant deaths and nine human deaths caused by the human-elephant conflict have been reported so far this year as well, he said.
