Large number of new political parties apply for registration

Around 125 new political parties have applied for the registration at the Election Commission by yesterday’s deadline.

This is the highest number of applications ever recorded for registration as political parties in the country’s political history.

The deadline for applying to register new political parties ended yesterday.

A spokesman from the Election Commission said the highest number of applications received the Commission by yesterday is in addition to the 70 political parties that are already registered.
