Over Rs. 2,287 bn allocated for infrastructure development of EPZs

The Board of Investment (BOI) has allocated Rs. 2,287 677 million towards the development of infrastructure facilities in the Export Processing Zones(EPZs) in the country. This is on the basis of Rs. 628,264 million for currently operated projects, Rs.400,551 million for projects approved last year and Rs.1,258,862 million for new projects, Industrial Export, Investment Promotion Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanne Ranatunga said.

There is a total of 15 export processing zones in the country. They are the Katunayake, Biyagama, Koggala, Kandy, Mirigama, Malwatte, Sitawaka, Mirijjawila, Wathupitiwala, Horana, Polgahawela, Mawathagama, Wagawatta, Wagawatta 2 and Bingiriya Export processing zones.
