State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said the exact date on the dissolution of Parliament will be announced at a press conference on Tuesday (February 18) adding that a decision on the final date is yet to be taken.
Meanwhile, State Minister Rambukwella told a recent press briefing at the Prime Minister’s office that the Government can obtain a majority at the upcoming General Elections without the help of extremist politicians and parties. To implement the National Policy Framework “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”, a strong and solid foundation should be laid in Parliament. Therefore, the Government calls upon the public to ensure that the incumbent Government gets a two-thirds majority in Parliament, he said.
