JHU, TPA, SLMC to support new Sajith-led Alliance

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), Tamil Progreessive Alliance (TPA) and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) have decided to join hands with the new Sajith Premadasa-led Alliance.

Issuing a press communiqué the leaders of the alliance stated that the United National Party Working Committee had approved the forming of its proposed new coalition under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa to contest the upcoming Parliamentary Election.

Tamil Progressive Alliance Leader Mano Ganeshan, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Rauf Hakeem and Jathika Hela Urumaya Leader Patali Champika Ranawaka had signed the press communiqué.

The UNP Working Committee had earlier decided to appoint Sajith Premadasa as the head of the Nomination Committee for the new coalition.

“Premadasa was bestowed by the Committee with the candidacy for Prime Minister, he was given powers to appoint the Secretary General of the new political alliance,’ the Communique said. The new alliance’s General Secretary is Patali Champika Ranawaka.

However, the party led by Rishad Bathuideen and TNA are yet undecided on whether or not to join the new alliance.
