Coronavirus: Only 15 under observation here, tourist fully cured

Only 15 persons in Sri Lanka are under observation for the Coronavirus so far and the only Coronavirus positive case, a Chinese tourist, detected from Sri Lanka is now cured, Epidemiology sources said.

According to sources, the only case found positive for the Coronavirus is clinically cured and in good health. She will be discharged from the hospital soon after the final medical report received confirming her ‘Coronavirus free status’.

Ten more persons are under observation at the IDH (NIID) in Angoda. There is one person at the National Hospital, one in Kandy, one in Gampaha and one at Karapitiya and Ratnapura hospitals.

In the current Sri Lankan context, there is no scientific justification to wear a face mask by the public including children. Persons suffering from common flu or seasonal influenza can wear face masks to protect family members, co-workers and the public, specialists said.

Epidemiologists advice the public to wash hands frequently, avoid close contact with people suffering from flu, avoid contacts with live or dead animals, always cover nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing (with disposable tissue or cloth or cough into bent elbow), not to touch mouth, nose, eyes unnecessarily and to avoid crowded places as much as possible to avoid contracting all respiratory infections including the Coronavirus.
