Foreign prostitutes arrested

Eight foreign women engaged in the sex trade in Colombo were arrested by a team from the Immigration and Emigration Department yesterday.

Immigration and Emigration Department sources said that two Chinese, three Thai and three women from the Philippines were among the arrested.

They were staying at two hotels in Bambalapitiya and all the women had arrived in Sri Lanka on tourist visas.

“The arrested women have been had been brought to the Mirihana detention centre and further investigations are continuing,” department sources said.
