Rs. 19.5m cash grant for 650 flood affected families in Anuradhapura

Six hundred fifty families affected by recent floods in the Anuradhapura District received a cash grant of Rs. 30,000 each today.

This unconditional cash grant was provided to those who were affected by the recent floods in the Ipellogama, Galnewa, Thalawa, and Thambuththegama divisional areas.

Under Sri Lanka Red Cross Society's post-flood recovery programme, over 2,000 flood-affected families in the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa districts will receive this unconditional cash grant. Sri Lanka Red Cross Society is also assisting in health, dengue awareness, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion interventions in three flood-affected districts with support from the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies.

Minister of Environment and Wildlife Resources S.M. Chandrasena, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society President Jagath Abeysinghe, Former Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith, Anuradhapura District Secretary R.M. Wanninayake, SLRCS Anuradhapura Branch members, and SLRCS Central Governing Board members attended the cash grant distribution held in Anuradhapura today.
