Four youth die in cab crash

Four youth had died when the cab they were travelling in skidded off the road and crashed into a stock of stones in Malpana in the Menikhinna Police Division on February 8 morning.

Police said the high speed of the cab may have caused the accident.

The cab occupants had been drunk, police said.

Residents of the area along with police officers have removed the bodies from the wreckage.

The victims had been identified as Mahesh Madusanka (17) of Naranpanawa,Tatsara Kavinda (19) of Trincomalee, Rasika Madusanka (19) of Gonagala, Taridu Kumara Ratnayaka (17) of Abagahapellassa.

They were employees of a mechanic company in the area. Menikhinna police are investigating.
